So far, prefix (for user names) and postfix (for hosts) seems to be

I don't see tel:12*15*7

as all that useful.

I suspect this is more useful for the address you put on your web page
("is my shop open?") vs. your business card.

I wonder if the caller preferences mechanism couldn't be extended to
handle this type of mechanism pretty easily.
